Stampin’ Up! Christmas Card using Two Tone Cardstock

Today I have a Stampin’ Up! Christmas card using one of the techniques with Two Tone cardstock. This is for Heart of Christmas Week 10 of 17, so we are well over half-way now.

In the most recent video on my YouTube channel, I showed the Autumn Days to Remember Two Tone Cardstock pack. I also shared three techniques using it, and today’s cards were made using one of the embossed pieces. Because this was a 6×6″ piece, I had enough to create two cards,

About the Stampin’ Up! Two Tone Cardstock

I started with a 6×6″ Piece of Mossy Meadow Two Tone card stock from the Autumn to Remember 12 sheet, 6 colour pack. The sheets are 12×12″ so this was just 1/4 of a sheet. This cardstock is lighter weight than our regular cardstock. My best way to describe it would be it is between our patterned paper and regular card stock in weight. The other key difference is that the colour is printed on the outsides, so the centre core remains white. This is instead of our regular cardstock which is dyed all the way through. The colour is printed lighter on one side of the cardstock as well (this piece is the lighter side of the Mossy Meadow cardstock).

How I made this Stampin Up Christmas card

As I mentioned, I started with a 6×6″ piece of Mossy Meadow Two Tone Cardstock. I embossed this (lighter side up) in the Painted Evergreens 3D Embossing Folder. Next I took a very light sanding block (fine sandpaper would also work) and I lightly sanded the raised area from the embossing. this allows some of the white core to shine through.

To create some contrast to my Stampin Up Christmas card, I then stamped over the top of the embossed piece. I used the Peaceful Evergreens stamp set and Mossy Meadow ink. In some areas I also stamped again without reinking. This gave a lighter stamped image and created the illusion of more dimension. I then cut the piece down the centre vertically so each piece was 7.5cm wide. I also trimmed the length to 11.5cm.

The base card is regular Mossy Meadow cardstock. Next I added a layer of the Basic Beige and Gold paper from the Season of Elegance DSP. To carry the gold theme through, I added a mat of Gold foil cardstock. Next I tied some twisted gold thread around the base (this is coming back next month as an online exclusive – yay!). This piece was added to the card front using Dimensionals. My sentiment is from the Reindeer Days stamp set, It is embossed in gold onto Very Vanilla. Finally I have added a few gold sequins either side of the sentiment. These are from the Neutrals Adhesive Backed Sequins.

Your cards have a lovely rich tone with the gold accents, Claire. The overstamping on the embossed piece is really effective in creating more dimension.

Very elegant cards, Claire. I love those darker greens with the Gold elements. The stamping on top of the dry embossing is very effective too!

Such beautiful cards Claire, I must admit I have not paid much attention to the 2 tone card stock and it looks so good embossed and sanded. Love the background DSP as well. Beautiful, elegant cards!
